Melanie Lane

Melanie is an Australian independent choreographer and performer, recently relocated to Melbourne from Germany. She has been based in Berlin from 2004, working with various companies and artists such as Kobalt Works | Arco Renz (B), Club Guy and Roni (N) and Tino Seghal (G).

As a choreographer, Melanie has developed a repertory of works performing in international festivals and theatres such as Tanz im August, Uzes Danse Festival, Arts House Melbourne, Spring Dance Festival, O Espaco do Tempo, Festival Antigel and HAU Hebbel am Ufer Berlin among others. She has been artist in residence at Dock 11 Berlin, Tanzwerkstatt Berlin, Theatre Nímes, O Espaco do Tempo, Lucy Guerin Studios, Ausdance NSW and Schauspielhaus Leipzig.

Melanie’s work with Belgian company Kobalt Works, has involved collaborative projects in Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia.

Her own collaborative work extends to artists such as UK musician Clark, choreographer Morgan Belenguer(F), Berlin video duo Photone, Film-makers Timo Schierhorn (G) and Eva S.Aridjis(US), and visual artists Martin Böttger(G) and Bridie Lunney(AUS).

Melanie is a guest teacher for companies such as Carte Blanche Norway, Sasha Waltz and Guests, Chunky Move, Danish Dance Theatre and Nordwest/Tanzcompagnie Oldenburg a.o.
